Empowering the national coach

In a previous article, I referred to the importance of the presence of a national coach, and considered the lack of Saudi coaches on the field to be one of the problems that hinder the development of football.

The recent step taken by the Saudi Football Association, represented by the Technical Committee, to enable national coaches to work in the First Division Football League, and the federation guarantees their salaries, is an important step in the development ladder, because there is no development for players without developing the coach, which is one of the most important aspects of this process. .

In my study published in 2018 on “The National Football Coach in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Obstacles, Problems and Proposed Solutions,” the study reached many results and recommendations, the most important of which were: Adopting a list of the salaries of the national coach according to his qualifications, and forcing clubs to have a national coach Within the technical staff as an assistant in the professional league, and as a coach in the first, second and third division.

I will review here some personal obstacles and problems that trainers see as a very big problem in front of them according to the above study, including:

They see that personal relationships play a major role in the coach's getting an opportunity in the field of training as a very big problem for national coaches. And they feel frustrated because of the lack of confidence in them on the part of the decision-makers in clubs and national teams, as well as their agreement that the national coach does not market himself as required, which is one of the most important and most important obstacles and personal problems.

As for the administrative obstacles and problems related to clubs, which represent a very big problem for national coaches, they include: Going to seek the help of the foreign coach instead of the national coach, and the lack of specialization of administrators working in clubs in the sports administration or public administration. And that the national coach is not given the opportunity to work in addition to the weak support provided to the coach by the club.

As for the administrative obstacles and problems related to the Football Association, which the national coaches see as a big problem for them, it came as follows: The Football Association does not support the work of the national coach as a professional coach, and there is no organization or association that deals with the affairs of the national coach, and the Football Association Clubs are not incentivized to hire a national coach.

As for the financial obstacles and problems that the local trainers see as a problem for them, it was as follows: There is no financial support for the coach from the private sector, and there is no health insurance for the coach and his family, and finally there are no financial incentives and allowances.
